The Post Bulletin staff are only supposed to print letters to the editor where the submitter’s comments are based on facts. Don Buck’s comments about climate change are completely without merit. Climate change is a scientific fact, based on over 70 years of research. Oil companies predicted that the climate would warm to this extent because of fossil fuel burning over 50 years ago. Our planet is in a very precarious state right now because of global warming. We have to reduce our use of fossil fuels in order to limit the damage from too much carbon dioxide and methane in our air. Look at all the destruction that has been caused by wildfires around the world. The massive number of trees that have been killed off. Trees that we need to cool our planet, clean our air, and remove carbon dioxide. The cost of natural disasters from global warming cost the U.S. over $90 billion last year. This cost is going to continue to increase. People in many states either cannot find or afford homeowners insurance. This problem is directly related to climate change disasters happening more frequently in their states. We cannot afford to continue delaying our reduction of fossil fuel usage.
