This week’s snowfall in Washington, D.C. reminded me of the late U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma. Who could forget the time he carried a snowball onto the floor of the U.S. Senate as part of his campaign against “Climate Change” or “Global warming” claims of environmentalists. This from the Oklahoman who even authored a book, “ The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future. ” In the book, the GOP Senator promised to “reveal the reasons behind those perpetuating the Hoax of global warming, who is benefiting from the general acceptance of the Hoax and why the premise statements are blatantly and categorically false.” His book came years after he defied the global warming claims of others and did so on the floor of the Senate. “With all of the hysteria, all of the fear, all of the phony science, could it be that man-made global warming is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people? It sure sounds like it.” As I wrote in February 2015 for OK Energy Today , Inhofe told his colleagues the snowball was a real life example that the globe is not warming. At the time, Inhofe was chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee. “In case we have forgotten because we keep hearing that 2014 has been the warmest year on record. I asked the chair, do you know what this is? It’s a snowball just from outside here. So it’s very, very cold out. Very unseasonable.” He then turned to an aide and said, “Catch this.” With that, Inhofe tossed the snowball underhand, smiled and resumed his speech. It left his Democrat critics, those who supported the fight for steps to fight global warming, incredulous.
