Official figures show nearly 73,000 forest fires were recorded in Brazil in the first eight months of the year — the highest number for any year since 2013. Most were in the Amazon. Back in June, a bunch of climate activists stormed the 18th green of the PGA’s Travelers Championship, spreading a paint-like powdery substance while wearing T-shirts with the deeply profound message, “No Golf on a Dead Planet.” It gives me goosebumps to think of the enormous intellect necessary to give birth to such sage wisdom. It reminds me of the endearing little chants offered up by the antisemitic, pro-Hamas college students who protested on college campuses across the country this past spring and who are back at it again now that school is back in session. One of their favorite chants is, “There is only one solution. Intifada! Revolution!” One final solution? Maybe they can clarify for us. You know, maybe I should rethink my position on this whole climate apocalypse thing. I mean, after all, if young people are so committed to saving the planet that they would interrupt a golf tournament, there must be something to it, right?
